Operating air hoist is one of the tasks repeat constantly in rig man daily work routine. Employees take it for guaranteed as it may looks simple; however it may lead to a serious accident, equipment damage or even fatality.

Safe operation of equipment is a vital element of a productive work environment. This course will train and certify rig personnel so they can properly and safely perform normal lifting and other activities for rig related man rider & air hoist tasks.

 

Objectives:

Air Hoist Operator Course is designed to teach participants how to demonstrate an understanding of:

  • How to conduct a visual and operational inspection.
  • Responsibilities of air hoist operator.
  • Environmental assessment.
  • Risk assessment and JSA.
  • How to hold a pre-job safety meeting.
  • Proper PPE and safety features.
  • Proper communication and hand signals.
  • Safe working load & working load limit.
  • Man-riding procedures.
  • Safe work operation.

 

Scope:

This course covers:

  • Mechanics of air hoist.
  • Pre-operations check & inspection.
  • Environmental Assessment.
  • Pre-job planning.
  • Safety devices.
  • Communications.
  • Safe winch operations.

 

Target Audience:

All staff who are required to use and/or operate air hoist.

 

Test:

A multiple-choice test is administered at the conclusion of the program. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.

 

 

Course Materials:

All participants are issued a Training Manual (Student Guide).

 

Course Completion Certificate:

Program participants who successfully complete the course are issued a certificate of completion.
